The new Transactions page – variety of issues

The Trade and Income (or was it Dividend) pages were removed when this function was added and while the concept is good, as it should be able to replace those pages, there are various implementation issues.   One of the most annoying is that the filters do not conform with the standard across the rest of the site: a) The filter values are not remembered when returning to the page after navigating away. The column sort selection should too. b) In particular, the Timeframe combo should default to the value it was on the previous page (eg if last fin year was selected on the Portfolio page, then that is what should be used when the Transactions page is loaded). Likewise, changing it on the Transactions page should apply globally. All other pages do this. c) Also the behaviour of the Timeframe combo is borked when switching portfolios (while staying on the Trans page). It will keep the filter selection shown but display unfiltered data. d) Likewise it seems that adding other filters (eg Sell transactions only) results in data returned for All Time !! e) Expanding the ‘advanced’ filter box shows a “Type to search” combo – clicking the drop down arrow on that does nothing (it works on the other two). I have to click inside the box instead. A small thing, but frustrating UX. f) Again in that advanced filter box, the placement of the X to delete the condition is rather unfortunate for the new user. It looks like a Close Dialog button, so for quite some time I would enter a condition and immediately delete it when trying to hide that box! g) Also in that advanced filter box, it allows the user to select multiple values in a single condition, but then the condition is ignored (eg select TX Type is not Buy, Sell - and all data is returned)   Given that the Trade and Income pages were removed, you should make it easy to get equivalent functionality from this page. This could be done with some extra filter buttons – dedicated to showing only one of those two transaction types. I eventually discovered that the Search filter has a selection of fairly useless presets – Dividend is not one of them – and having to select both Buy and Sell one at a time is tedious, plus that won’t pick up other events that affect the quantity of shares held such as mergers. At the moment filtering on Dividend requires many, many clicks and scrolling.   You’ve done an impressive job on the XLS Export to recognise that a dynamic range of columns is needed according to the type of transactions returned. However when a mixture of data is present it extracts one type of data, with nothing to give the user control over which it will be – eg Dividends only - or even alert them to the fact that the export is incomplete. The export also does not generate dates in a format that Excel recognises without manual manipulation – this wasn’t an issue previously on the Trades and Dividends pages. Further, it is missing some columns such as Ex Date and Gross Amount (instead Net is duplicated as Value)   Ultimately I think the Transactions page would work better with a tabbed header along the lines of: All, Trades, Dividends (and perhaps Cash, Other etc). Note that the way you currently group the values of Tx Type doesn’t really work (eg Dividend as a Corporate Action)   Although some of these things could be regarded as enhancements I’ve classified this as Bug because it is primarily about returning the utility previously supplied.
